Robert Wayne Muncy Sr.

MUNCY, Robert W. “Bob” Sr., CMSGT, USAF, Retired, 84 of Sandston departed this life May 19, 2016. He loved and is survived by his wife and soul mate of 61 years, Lettie Wagner Muncy; three loved and wonderful children Robert W. “Chip” Muncy, Jr., Lettie Renee’ Angle (Fletcher), and Dr., James L. “Jim” Muncy (Bidy); five wonderful grandchildren Matthew, Joey, Amy, Stuart (Chelsea) and Cristina. He is also survived by his devoted brother Donald E. Muncy (Alice) of Venice Center, NY and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Muncy was preceded in death by his father, mother, five sisters, three brothers, and his beloved yellow lab, Buffy. Mr. Muncy retired from the U.S. Air Force with 28 years of service and the U.S. Army with 22 years of civil service. He served several tours of duty, including two in Vietnam. Mr. Muncy was a member of Sandston Baptist Church and was a Master Mason, Lifemember in Perpetuity, of Sandston Masonic Lodge #216, A.F. and A.M. He was a member of the American Legion Post 242 in Sandston for 26 years. Bob enjoyed various types of woodworking and square dancing as the caller for the “Dixie Swingers” club. Remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 6-7 pm and Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Masonic service will be held at 7 pm at Sunday’s visitation. Services will be held at Sandston Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 25 at 12 pm with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sandston Baptist Church, Masonic Home of Virginia, or any charity of your choice.
