In the time that I  knew Shelton I  was amazed by his kindness and positive attitude.  I think Patsy was a very lucky lady for having the pleasure of sharing his life for 15+ years. Rest in peace my friend. Mac

My husband and I only met Shelton once. We had plans for more get-togethers but then Covid hit. Although we certainly did not know him well, he must’ve been a great man for Patsy to love him so much!  He certainly seemed like a caring warm Man.  Rest in peace. Kay and Larry

Uncle Shelton was a bit older than I.  He was my Granny Lewis’s last child.  My mother loved him. As if he was her child.    Uncle Shelton would come over to stay on weekends.  We had so much fun!  He always caught so  many Catawba worms for us to go fishing.  I recall when he went into service.   I was so proud of him to serve our country.  You will be missed ! 

                                                    My Thoughts of Shelton Lewis
Shelton was one of my very best friends.  He was more like family than just a friend.  When he came to visit, he always came baring gifts.  If we were playing cards at the house, he would always bring a cooler of our favorite drinks and snacks galore!  He would even make a special trip to Bass Pro to buy our favorite fudge for special occasions.  He was Uncle Shelton to my kids and he spoiled them rotten.  He knew everyone’s favorite candies.  Their bags were so full they could barely lift them.  
We ate out together a lot.  He always made sure that Patsy had plenty of sauce for her baked spaghetti to take home.  He always ordered appetizers for everyone and Mountain Dew for all!!  Shelton was the biggest tipper I have ever known.  He didn’t flaunt it so that everyone would know.  If you hadn’t seem him slip the server a big tip in private you would never know because he never spoke about it.  I guess he knew how hard they work for very little pay.

He and Patsy loved their fur baby, Harley.  He was the most pampered dog I have ever seen.  He was totally spoiled and enormously loved.  He passed away recently, but he had a great life.
Shelton always wanted Patsy to be taken care of.  I promise you, my friend,  that we will always be her family as usual.

                                                      THOUGHTS OF SHELTON LEWIS

I hate to use cliches like” he was a man’s man”, but Shelton was more than that.  I know he was an American Patriot and served his country to the fullest in a war that no one loved but the politicians that created it.  Still, he did his duty and he  carried the scars to the end.  I know he knew more about guns than I could ever hope to know, but he tried to teach me.  He was a member of the New Bridge Baptist Insight Outdoor Ministry and taught Peyton and me about shotguns and trying to hit those elusive clay pigeons.   He even helped Terri become an accomplished pistol range marksman.  She and Peyton are both better than me. 
I know he could hunt and fish with the best of them, but Shelton was a true and steady friend and became Uncle Shelty to my kids who loved him too.  He not only spoiled his wife with gifts that I would not know how to pick out for my wife and buy, but he spoiled Peyton and Katelynn at their birthdays and at Christmas.  He was one of the most giving and unselfish men I have known.  
Oh yes -and LUCKY!  He was the luckiest person I have ever known.  If there was any kind of raffle and Shelton bought a ticket, you can forget about winning anything.  I sometimes I tried to sit close to him to see if it would rub off on me- NOT! If he was that lucky, somebody had to love him.
I thank the Lord for Shelton’s life and what he has meant to our family.

Shelton was a fine neighbor, one of the old school type.  I would always look for him  to see if he was in his yard when I went outside.  From walking his dog or riding his mower to feeding his birds and other animals it was comforting to see him around.   Even at night I would look for the porch light if I was outside or in my garage and feel like I had company even though a yard apart.  He helped me when I needed a hand and was ready to do so in a heartbeat.  We shared being outside sweating in our gardens together during the summer and my father, who helps me take care of mine, referred to him as his garden buddy as Shelton would make it a point to come talk to him or he would go over and see him if outside working together.  One of his signature accessories was a towel around his neck while cutting the grass or working in the garden to help with sweating and the sun as he knew this old fashioned technique would work even in the hottest of weather .  Shelton will be greatly missed as will the good conversations had along the property line.  

 Shelton had a giving heart and when he found out what you liked he made sure you had an abundance of it rather it was candy or a sports team memorabilia or jewelry. He was very appreciative when we invited him to family dinners for the holidays and showed it by bringing flowers, he loved my rice pudding and my fruit cake which I loved making for him every Christmas. But mostly he loved Patsy and took care of her and that to us was priceless. We will miss Shelton but very glad he was saved and in the arms of Jesus and we know we will see him again thanks to Patsy.

He had such a beautiful spirit and generous loving manner!  He never forgot my fudge!  I am thankful to be praising God for I know we will meet again in heaven!  Please love on Kara!   Please know how deeply you are loved and so greatly missed!   I love you!
