BROOKE, Virginia Smith, of Sandston, Va., died peacefully at home with family by her side on May 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James R. Brooke Jr. She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Cathy), Suzanne (Marvin), Bobby (Resie), Gene (Mindy); two sisters, Barbara (Jack) and Mary; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., on Monday, May 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 31, at 11 a.m. The burial will follow in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make a Wish Foundation.
