

BOSWELL, Walter Henry Sr., 88, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Laura Boswell; wife, Dorothy Boswell; brothers, Kenneth Boswell and Wesley Boswell. Walter is survived by his son, Walter H. Boswell Jr. and his wife Kathy; grandson, Justin C. Boswell; brother, James Boswell and his wife, Bernice; devoted friend, Thelma Clapp and her family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was an employee of AMF for 40 years and a musician and band leader for over 35 years. Walter and his band played at Bellwood Dance Hall for 20 straight years. He and his brothers were one of the original country music bands in this area “The Boswell Brothers”. Walter was a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church and Pioneer Baptist Church, and also served our country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Walter and Dorothy were married for more than 53 years. He enjoyed taking care of others and sharing his faith, telling stories about life, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231; where a funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11am. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
