December 20, 1944 – October 27, 2026
Sue was born in Chelmsford, England, and moved to Canada in her twenties. She passed away in Fort Erie, surrounded by family and friends, six months to the day after her beloved husband, Rudy. They shared 57 years of marriage and a life full of family, hard work, travel, and adventure.
When her children were young, Sue volunteered as a Beaver leader, known as “Rainbow,” and was always there for dance classes and recitals, hockey practices and games. She sewed costumes, made sure her children had what they needed, and gave generously of her time. Sue also worked alongside Rudy as they owned and managed Crystal Beach Amusement Park.
After retirement, Sue and Rudy travelled extensively and built a beautiful home in Akumal, Mexico, where they made lasting memories with family and friends. In her sixties and seventies, Sue continued caring for others as a volunteer with local organizations, sharing her time and artistic talents.
Sue’s love of art ran deep, and she won numerous awards for her work. She was a member of the Woodcarvers Association and the Phoenix Art Group and was always learning a new medium or finding another way to create beauty with her hands. Watercolour, wood carving, weaving, ceramics, resin: Sue was a maker of beautiful things, many of which she lovingly shared with family and friends. Her creative passion lives on in her children.
She always had a garden and found various ways to preserve its harvest. Her black currant jam and strawberry rhubarb pie became family favourites. Sue will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her smile, her capable hands, and the many ways she cared for the people around her.
She will be dearly missed by her children, son John and his wife, Debbie, and daughter Tina; her grandsons, Justin and Rudy; her sister-in-laws Jane and Rita, her nieces Melissa and Virginia (Jules), her nephews Bobby (Heather) and Rick (Janet), her cousin Alison (John), and many other loving friends and family.
Family and friends are invited to Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N in Ridgeway for visitation on Saturday November 7th, from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel. High Tea will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre in her memory.
