Catherine "Caty" Alice Gittner

November 24, 1978 – May 28, 2025

It is with profound heartbreak and eternal love that we announce the passing of Catherine "Caty" Alice Gittner on May 28, 2025, at the age of 46.

Born on November 24, 1978, Caty was a bright, compassionate soul whose presence illuminated every space she entered. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and fierce devotion to those around her. Caty had a rare gift for connecting with people—making them feel seen, valued, and understood. Whether through her warm smile, her listening ear, or her quick, clever wit, she made life better simply by being herself.

Caty graduated from Henry Ford High School, Class of 1997, and went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University. A gifted athlete, she played volleyball at BGSU and earned a place on the U.S. National Volleyball Team as it trained for the Olympics.

Her passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. She found great joy in the companionship of dogs, gardening, rock hunting, and sharing her love for animals through her work with Sit Means Sit dog training. Caty was a loyal friend and a steadfast presence in the lives of many.

At her core, Caty was the heart of her home and a pillar of her community. Though her accomplishments were many, her greatest joy came from her relationships—with her beloved family, her wide circle of friends, and especially with her husband and daughters.

Caty is survived by her loving husband, Michael Gittner; her cherished daughters, Olivia and Morgan; her mother, Sharon Rommeck; her brothers, Doug (Marguerite) Rommeck and Jeff (Erin) Rommeck; her brother and sister in law Anne and Michael Conniff; and her nieces and nephews, Chloe, Liam, Annelise, Brennon, Faith, and Darrin.Caty is preceded in death by her father, Michael Rommeck. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, grace, strength, and fierce love that will live on in all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI 48307

Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Funeral services will take place at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Street, Rochester, MI 48307

Wednesday, June 4, 2025, with instate at 10:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM

Caty will be laid to rest at Guardian Angel Cemetery, 4701 N. Rochester Road, Rochester, MI 48306.
