Chris was born the son of Lorimer and Josee (Bertinchamps) McCallister in Warren, Michigan on March 4th, 1960. At age 15, Chris had a tragic accident and became quadriplegic. He graduated as valedictorian of his class in 1978 from Tower High School in Warren, Michigan. Chris earned his undergraduate degree from Oakland University. He earned his master’s degree and doctrinal degree in psychology from Wayne State University. Chris worked his entire career for Easterseals MORC.
Chris was loved by many for his passion for helping others. He loved animals, especially dolphins and dogs.
Chris is survived by his niece Nicole McCallister; friends George Kruk and Elizabeth Lovins who was like a sister to Chris; Malaci and Dayanna, Elizabeth’s children; caregivers Rae Lynn Geldersma, Shrisse Jefferson and her daughter Ivory. Chris was predeceased by his parents; his brother Marc McCallister; and nephew Robert McCallister.
A visitation will be help on Saturday January 13th, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the sharing of memories service at noon at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
