Dorothy Mae Smith

Loving mother, mamaw, sister, and aunt, Dorothy Mae Smith, 76, of Rochester Hills passed away on February 21st, 2016. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 9th, 1939. Dorothy had a passion for her family. She was predeceased by her husband George Smith, her daughter Wanda Johnson, and her siblings Deana Gibson, Frank Vandergriff, Herman Smith, and Sam Vandergriff. Dorothy is survived by her children Freda (Rudy) Ballard, Thomas (Beth) Smith, and Timothy (Jill) Smith; her grandchildren, Jacob, Chris, Nichole and Matt Ballard, Ronald Gabriel, Curtis and Cassandra Johnson, Jaclyn, Brooke, Tommy, Austin, Michaela, and Alexis Smith; her great grandchildren Persephone, Lelaina, Lexie, Lucia, Nathan, Kyle, Madeline, Ciera, Madison, Carter, and Jackson; and her siblings Rudy and Daniel Vandergriff. Visitation will be held at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester on Wednesday, February 24th from 1- 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester on Thursday, February 25th at 11 a.m. with a brief visitation starting at 10 a.m. Donations can be made to the Older Person’s Commission.
