

BELLAIRS, Edward Evans, lifelong Rochester Hills resident; Ed passed away at his home January 3, 2017. Ed was born July 5, 1925, the eldest son of Herbert Henry Bellairs and Lottie Pearl (Evans) Bellairs. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1943 and entered the US Navy as a radio operator in the fall of that year. Upon his discharge he returned to Rochester, and on June 7, 1947 married his lifelong partner, Dorothy Eileen Powell, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Ed worked for the Rochester School District for 34 years, retiring as Director of Building and Grounds. His interests included gardening, bowling, stamp collecting and genealogy. Edward is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Robert (Jenny) of Charlevoix and William (Philip McArthur) of Oxford; sister, Helen Harriman of Lapeer; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his siblings, William, Elizabeth Falkenbury, Phyllis Miller, Lee, Herbert “Jack" and great-grandson Trenton Michelsen. Visitation 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2016 at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W University Dr., in downtown Rochester. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Rd., Rochester; Edward will lie in-state from 10 a.m. until the start of service.
