Effie lived a life marked by grace, strength, and a deep sense of purpose. She made an impact on every single person she met—offering not only kindness and love but life lessons that stayed with others long after the conversation ended. She was a woman of tradition, a woman of virtue, and a woman of unshakable faith.
For over 30 years, Effie served as a dedicated dietary supervisor at Crittenton Hospital, where her work was not just a job but a calling. She carried her passion for caring for others into every aspect of her life. Her willpower, joyful spirit, and warm presence were felt not only in the hospital halls but also throughout her church community, where she was an active and faithful member.
Effie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, Allie Harrison Harp, who passed on December 28, 2005. Together, they built a loving home centered on faith, family, and joy. They especially loved to travel and made it a tradition to take yearly vacations with their grandchildren—creating treasured memories that will live on for generations.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter Arlene Singleton (2010) and grandson Ronald Harrison Harp (2014), whose memories she held close to her heart.
Effie is survived by her loving children: Dianna Harp, Ivy Harp, Ronald (Connie) Harp, and Patricia (Duane) Floyd. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Xavier, Tonia, Dianna, Angela, Derek, Lillian, Natalie, Whitney, Aaron, Andre, Leslie, Keisha, Antonio, and Alexis. Her legacy continues through a host of great-grandchildren and “bonus” children whom she embraced as her own, along with countless friends from her church and every corner of her life.
Effie Harp’s life was a living testimony to faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. Her influence will be felt for generations, and her absence will be deeply mourned by all who knew her.
A memorial service for Effie will be held at Franklin Road Church of Christ, 1400 Franklin Rd, Pontiac, MI, 48341, on Saturday November 1, 2025 at 10:30 AM.
Flowers can be sent to the church Thursday October 30, 2025 & Friday October 31, 2025 10:30am - 2:00pm
