Erwin “Erv” George Bauer, age 99, of Rochester Michigan passed away Friday August 28, 2020, just four days from his 100th birthday. Erv was born the son of Edwin and Emma (Mossner) Bauer on September 2, 1920 in Reese, Michigan. He graduated from Concordia High School in Wake Forest, IL, class of 1939. Erv earned his bachelor degree from Concordia College, Wake Forest in 1943. He married Dorothy Weiss on July 16, 1944 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. Erv and Dorothy moved first to Gaylord Minnesota, followed by Detroit, and finally Rochester to serve for fifteen years as a teacher and principal for the growing school. Erv went on to a new career in sales with A.J. Nystrom Company and finally the George F. Cram Company where he retired in 2000. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1947 and the Lions club. Erv had passion for golfing and cherished his four hole-in-ones. He enjoyed Tiger baseball and Michigan football. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy and he always loved visiting with them. Erv is survived by his children Judy (Les) Bauer Stahlke, Fred (Susan) Bauer, Gene (Adelene) Bauer, Dale Bauer, and Carol (Tom) Martin; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Dorothy of 69 years; son Gary; parents Emma and Edwin Bauer; and siblings Edna Tafel, Ray Bauer, Marie Eggars, and an infant sister.Erv’s family welcome all to pay their respects on Tuesday September 1st from 1-7pm, and Wednesday from 10am – 1pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation checks may be out to "St. John Foundation". Envelops will be available at the funeral home and St. John Church.
