Frederick Richard Darby

DARBY, Frederick R., age 96, of Rochester Hills, died January 2, 2011; Dr. Darby came to the U.S. in 1925, settling in Wyandotte; he graduated from Wyandotte High School, then attended and graduated from Illinois College in Podiatric Medicine in 1940 where he was appointed to the teaching staff in the Dept. of Diagnosis; he started to practice in Detroit in 1942, then in 1954 he started his own practice in Rochester, being the first Podiatrist in northern Oakland County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pontiac, now Woodside Bible Church, where he was a long term member of the finance committee and also took care of the children in MOPS until his knees gave-out; he enjoyed fishing, stained glass, crossword puzzles, clock-making and drinking coffee with his buddies; husband of the late Alice for 63 years; father of Valery (Richard) Scott of Oxford and Daniel (Sara) Darby of Leonard; grandfather of Richard (Wendy), Andrew, Tucker (Carrie) and Leslie (Zhao Bin); also seven great-grandchildren; funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W.
