Irene J. Goetz

Irene is survived by her loving children Richard (Teresa) Prince, Debora (Anthony) Vassallo, Janis Martin, and Cathy (John) Hawes; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Arthur Shields; and dog Mocha. Irene is predeceased by her first husband Alfred Prince; second husband Joseph Goetz; and her partner of many years William Ort.

Irene was born the daughter of Archibald and Catherine (McDermott) Shields in Walkerville, Ontario on May 16, 1930. She came to the United States in 1951 and married Alfred Prince soon after. Alfred died in 1970 and Irene married Joseph Goetz in 1979. Following Joseph’s death, Irene met William Ort and the two were together until his death.

Irene lived life to the fullest. She loved music by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, and cooking was a joy for her.

Irene’s family will receive all for a memorial gathering Saturday April 21, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester Michigan.
