

John is survived by wife Ruth Metevier, daughter Sharron (Wayne “Kip”) Webster and son Gregory Metevier; also survived by his four grandchildren Kira (Alex) Avery, Blossom Metevier, Andre Webster, and Samantha Metevier, two sisters Mary (the late Roland) Antil and Anne (Steve) Hunnicutt, and nephews, nieces, step-family members and friends.
John was preceded in death by his beloved son Lawrence Metevier. He was also preceded in death by his parents Francis J. and Lucille Metevier, and his brothers James, Thomas, and Michael.
John graduated from Mackenzie High School (Detroit) and was a veteran of the Korean War. He attended the Lawrence Institute of Technology and the Chrysler Institute of Engineering preparing for a lifelong career in automotive industry.
John started his career with body drafting in various job shops prior to joining General Motors. After moving into Design Engineering, John went to Australia to be a Lead Engineer. At the conclusion of the program, he returned to the Chevrolet Engineering as a Design Supervisor. Afterward, John managed the new Corvette body program with Detroit Industrial Engineering. He retired after 30 years at General Motors.
