John Walter Sangregario

John was born on February 18, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Sam and Margaret Sangregario. He attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven in Detroit and Notre Dame Preparatory School in Harper Woods, and earned his Associate Degree from Macomb Community College. He began his working career in the family business, Gigantic Builders, where he installed garage doors. He later went on to work for Michigan Bell, where he proudly dedicated 48 years of service before retiring. John was deeply involved in his community. He was a MAHA ice hockey coach, a Free Mason, a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in St. Clair Shores, Loyal Order of Moose #409, the Elks of Farmington and Am VETS. In recognition of his dedication to service, he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the United States.

John had a passion for coaching ice hockey, golfing, gardening, and enjoying time in any social setting. Above all else, he cherished his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; daughter Nicole (Bobby) Luscinski; son Jonathan (Sara Bodnar); sister Diana; sisters-in-law Carol and Susan; nephews Steven (Alexie), Patrick (Emilie), and David (Julie); nieces Renee (Andrew) and Angela (Leo); and many beloved cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Margaret Sangregario, his brother Jim, and brother-in-law Wally.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 3:00–8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service, at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr, Rochester, MI, 48307. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood Ave., Rochester, with Instate at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m.

John will be laid to rest at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
