Lester Dean Ballagh was born on November 15, 1917, in Cass City Michigan. His father sold their farm when Les was 8 and moved his family to Rochester where he took the job of managing the Ferry-Morse Seed Farm. Les worked with his father at the seed farm until he went to work as a Foreman for GM in 1938. That same year he married the love of his life, Doris, on September 10th. In 1942, their first son Larry was born, and in 1946 their second son Don was born. Les enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to hunt and to travel with his family. They went on many camping trips, and spent many memorable vacations at their cabin in Lewiston, especially in the winter snowmobiling. In their retirement they traveled the country on many trips in their motor home. Les was deeply devoted to his wife and his family and now we look back at his life of 95 years and celebrate a very special man. Les is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Doris; his son Don (Connie) Ballagh; his daughter-in-law Patricia Ballagh (wife of the late Larry); 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
"When Irish eyes are smiling, sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring. In the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay. And when Irish eyes are smiling , sure, they steal your heart away."
