Louise Fyfe Seltz passed away peacefully surrounded by love on March 5, 2024, joining her beloved husband, Wilber (Bill) Seltz who passed away in 2021. Louise was born on June 23, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by her sister Margaret (Fyfe) Rush CA., sons Tony (Cathy) of Rochester, MI., Tom (Leslie) of Waterford, MI., Scott (Peggy) of Santa Cruz, CA., and their two children Hanna and Dustin, Rick (Janet) of Cleveland, OH., and daughter Sandy (Erik) of Salt Lake City, UT. Louise was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her children adored her, and she was endlessly considerate.
Louise was a talented seamstress and had a gift for home design and clothing. She sewed all her children’s clothing for years. In the early 1970’s Louise became a successful entrepreneur when she and her dear friend, Marabel Jones created a junior clothing store. ‘The Clothesline’ was located in the Village Outlet in downtown Rochester. It was an early “outlet” before factory outlets existed. It became a popular destination and is remembered fondly by many people. Louise enjoyed dancing with Bill and attending many school sporting events that Bill oversaw for the Rochester School District.
In 1989 Bill and Louise moved to Traverse City, MI where the entire family would flock at least once a year to enjoy a week together indulging in lake side fun, the local film festival, and favorite family dishes. In 2014 they moved back to their early hometown of Rochester, Michigan. The entire family followed them back to their new home base at least once a year, taking up every bedroom and couch to all fit under one roof together. All Louise’s children want to give a very heartfelt thank you to Tony and Cathy who sold their own home six years ago to move in to assist Bill and Louise as they aged happily and allowed them to continue their dream of staying at home. We gratefully thank our dear Aunt Clara Seltz Carvey (Jerry) (Bill’s youngest sister) for visiting every Wednesday for years. We also are overwhelmed by the immense compassion of Gentiva Hospice. This support system of wonderful people, family and hospice allowed Louise the grace of being comfortable in her own home when she left us.
