

She is survived by her children Janice Brown, Leo (Sue) Shulzitski, Jr., Mark (Gina) Malatesta, and Karen (Frank) Buscemi; grandchildren John Craig, Mike Craig, Jennifer Shulzitski, Katherine Shulzitski, Meredith Albright, Noah Correll and Jesse Buscemi; great grandchildren J.P. McEnany, Easton Craig, Violet Higbee, Odin Higbee, Silas Clarke, Gemma Greaux, Alexis Albright, and Miralese Albright. Also surived by a brother, Leo Malatesta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was born on September 6, 1924, in Kelayres, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Leo and Jennie (Jump) Malatesta. She married Leo Shulzitski in 1945 and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage until his passing in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Aurelio, Vincent, Joseph, Johnny, and sisters Elaine Katherine, Mary and Connie.
A graduate of McAdoo High School in Pennsylvania, Margaret was on the gymnastics team. She had worked for NBD for over 20 years until her retirement. Following her retirement, Margaret moved back to Kelayres, Pennsylvania, where she served on the local Water Board, and was responsible for bringing safe water, as well as an updated sewer system, to Kline Township. She was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Rochester Hills, and a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Birmingham where she was an active member of the Knitting Club. Margaret also used her knitting skills as part of the Birmingham Senior Center, and would knit items for Veterans.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, in Rochester.
The funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 2675 John R Road in Rochester Hills. Fr. Stanley Ulman, celebrant. Margaret will lie in state at the church at 10 a.m.
Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
