

Michael Gerrity, 72, of Rochester Hills, MI, passed away on June 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Rita, his brothers Joel and Marty, and his sister Bev. He was a man known for his infectious humor and warm personality. Mike was a beloved husband, father, papa, and friend to all leaving behind a profound legacy of love and laughter.
Born in Detroit, MI on November 26, 1950, Mike possessed a natural talent for making people smile. A graduate of Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, where he spent most of his early life, Mike had a quick wit and comedic charm that endeared him to many. He effortlessly formed lasting friendships wherever he went with his ability to lighten even the heaviest of moments, bringing joy to countless lives.
Mike had a long and successful career in the paper industry for Chope Union/Unisource Paper. He leaves behind his wife Sue, children Elizabeth Gerrity, Marisa (husband Steve) Huber and grandchildren Colin Day, Greta, John Henry, Annabelle and Julian Huber.
Mike had a passion for classic cars, frequently joining family and friends for cruises and shows. He was an avid fisherman and loved playing golf and bowling in his free time. No matter what he was doing, he was having fun.
Within the intimate circle of his family, Mike held an irreplaceable role. As a devoted husband, he cherished his beloved wife, Sue, sharing a bond that withstood the test of time. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support.
As a father, Mike was an endless source of encouragement and guidance. He nurtured his daughters’ dreams, offering words of wisdom and instilling in them a sense of humor that will be their lifelong companion. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and they will forever carry his love within their hearts.
It was in the role of Papa, however, that Mike truly found immeasurable joy. Colin, Greta, John Henry, Annabelle, and Julian were the lights of his life. He showered them with affection, sharing in their triumphs and providing a steady presence throughout their journeys. Mike's love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he relished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Mike Gerrity's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit, his laughter, and his genuine care for others will be sorely missed. Though he may no longer be physically present, the memories of his infectious humor and the love he bestowed upon his family and friends will forever echo in their lives.
In honor of Mike's memory, his family invites all who knew him to celebrate his life, sharing stories and laughter that capture the essence of the remarkable man he was. A memorial gathering for Mike will be held on Thursday July 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with time of sharing beginning at 5:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan.
