Robert “Bob” Niemiec, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025. He was a great man whose life was defined by service, kindness, and quiet generosity. Bob shared 53 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Noreen. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, and cherished pets Rocky, King, and Teddy. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Lloyd, son-in-law, Jeff Lloyd, two grandsons, Thomas and Colin, and grand dogs, Otis and Sully, who brought him immense pride and joy. A devoted Catholic, Bob found strength and comfort in his faith in God. He served his country as an officer in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he dedicated 38 years to his work as an engineer in the aerodynamics lab at General Motors, where his intellect, precision, and work ethic were deeply valued.
A man of many interests, Bob had a deep love for all animals, enjoyed biking, baking, reading, music and was especially passionate about teaching math. After retiring from GM, he began substitute teaching, where he found great fulfillment helping students who were stuck or struggling. He had a special ability to make math understandable and to give students confidence in their own abilities. Though well-traveled, Bob found his greatest happiness at home. He will be remembered for his steady presence, gentle kindness, and the deep love he had for his family and close friends. He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
