Born on May 12,1963, in Petosky, Michigan, Scott was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Scott married the love of his life Pauline, on May 21, 1988. Scott was an Associate Broker with Key Realty, where he made a lasting impact on his clients and colleagues. He found great joy in coaching other agents and helped numerous clients move and often helped paint their new homes. He was an instructor with the Real Estate Negotiation Institute.
Scott was a dedicated member of Faith Lutheran Church of Troy, and was a part of the Worship team for several churches throughout his lifetime. He had a passion for jazz music and was a talented trumpet player; playing in the Woodward Jazz Orchestra for many years. Scott played Taps for many military funerals, including the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Ceremony. Scott also enjoyed kite flying, target shooting, and was a Civil War Buff, touring many of the historic battle grounds whenever he got the chance. Scott gave his time and resources to many charities over the years, especially Gifts For All God's Children. Above all else, nothing was more important to him than his family. Scott loved to spend time with his grandchildren, and was a parent volunteer with Cub Scouts, as well as Boy Scouts.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; his sons Jacob (Rebekah) Sowles, Michael Sowles, and Stephen Sowles; and his cherished grandchildren, Isaiah and Norah. Pauline's siblings considered Scott to be their own brother; Gary (Barbie) Behmlander, Nancy (Ken) Schmandt, Karen (Dan) Beamish, Daniel (Debra) Behmlander, Lyle (Barb) Behmlander, and Floyd (Heather) Behmlander, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Velma Sowles, and a son, Zachary Scott Sowles, who passed away on February 14, 1995.
A memorial visitation for Scott will be held Thursday, August 15th from 4pm until 9pm at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307. A Memorial service will be held Friday, August 16th at noon (visitation 11am-noon) at Faith Lutheran Church of Troy, 37635 Dequindre Road, Troy, MI 48083.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott's honor can be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Troy and Gifts For All God's Children. Envelopes will be available at Pixley Funeral Home and Faith Lutheran Church.
