Shirley Grace Heins

Shirley Grace Heins (age 89), passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Shirley was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to George and Lydia Hoemke on July 11, 1929. She married Edward Heins, also of Royal Oak, on November 19, 1955. Together, they decided to raise their family in Rochester, Michigan before finally settling in Addison Township, Michigan. Shirley’s greatest joys were her family, her church, and music. She loved her Savior and that love was passed onto her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To God be the glory.

Shirley is survived by her children: Andrea (Gary) Kwapis, Martin (Lorri) Heins, Melissa (Brian) Berger, David (Sandra) Heins, and Jon Heins; grandchildren: Nicholas (Aubrey) Kwapis, Emily Heins, Meredith (Michael) Reinhold, Matthew (Brandy) Heins, Anna (John) Lucas, Lydia Heins, Joseph (Sheridan) Heins, David Garelick, and Ericka Yeiter; and great-grandchildren: Madilyn, Elizabeth, Henrik, Emma, Patrick, and Jack. Shirley was predeceased by husband Edward Heins and granddaughter Kirsten Heins.

A funeral service will take place at St. John Lutheran Church, in Rochester, at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00am, at St. John.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s honor to the St. John Traditional Music Program.
