Steven Robert Pyykkonen, son of Agnes Pyykkonen and the late Robert Pyykkonen was born September 22, 1950 in Chassell, Michigan, a small town in northern Michigan. He attended Berkeley High School where he was a three sport athlete, playing baseball, basketball, and football, while achieving high honors in the classroom. He went on to further his studies and basketball career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he also became part of the brotherhood of Pi Kappa Alpha. Following college, he entered into the world of automotive manufacturing, where he followed in his fathers footsteps. It was his determination and grit that enabled him to eventually build his company, Berkeley Industries, which supported the automotive industry and provided a wonderful life for his family.
On October 4, 1980, Steven married the love of his life, Carol Montrose, and the union was blessed with two loving children, Flynn and Devon.
Steven Pyykkonen was a loving husband and father who understood the importance of family. He played an integral role in the AAU basketball community for his son and daughter while always stressing the importance of hard work ethic and teamwork. He had a passion for the cinema, which led him to be an actor on stage and in film in his early life. He always encouraged his wife Carol and children to pursue what they love. He loved watching basketball, eating his wife’s spaghetti, spending time with his wife and kids, laughing, being on the water, and actively supporting the church.
Stevens beautiful and full life will live on forever through his wife, Carol Pyykkonen, his mother, Agnes Pyykkonen, his children, Flynn and Devon Pyykkonen, and his brothers Scott and Robert Pyykkonen. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
