Todd Alan Vest, 62, originally of Wilmington, Delaware, entered eternal life suddenly on August 13, 2025, of natural causes. Todd graduated from Alexis I. du Pont High School in Delaware, and earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He was a career man at General Motors for over thirty years, and dedicated himself to his work with tenacity. Charitable causes were close to his heart, as a member of the Eagles Fraternal Order and a passionate contributor to Operation Good Cheer.
Many of his loved ones would recognize Todd through bursts of color painting the skies, whether by model rockets he built himself, massive kites with billowing rainbow tails, or enormous fireworks displays on the Fourth of July that the neighborhood would gather to see (and would shake the local windows). He was fascinated with what laid beyond the shell of the Earth, and loved rockets that reached the stars. His ashes will be placed into a rocket that will orbit Earth for years, as a tribute to his passion for the mystery of what's above.
He was dedicated to being present for his loved ones, pushing himself beyond the bone to make miracles happen and traveled hours upon hours of the open road to be there for others time and time again. He would show up in the hospital to visit friends. He would send small gifts to show he's thinking of you out of the blue. He would trudge through snow to draw a heart before heading to work. And he would take a call at any hour if someone needed a compassionate ear.
Todd is survived by his two children Kelly and Michael, his loving wife Mary Alice, her son Liam (Susan) Davis and his granddaughter Alice, his brothers Kenneth (Sandy) Vest and Brian (Laura) Vest, and many, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 17th, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester Hills, with a service to follow. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
A visitation for Todd will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307, followed by a funeral at 12:00 PM.
