William Frederick Stanley Jr., better known by his friends and patients as Doc, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the age of 90. Born in Ferndale, Michigan to William Sr. and Thelma Stanley, William found himself pulled to serve his community as a physician. After finishing Detroit Country Day High School he attended Alma College and then continued his education at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, in Des Moines, graduating in the class of 1963. He was a respected OBGYN who held the position as the Chief of Staff for Bi-County Community Hospital. William was appointed to and served as both a member and examiner on the Certifying Board of the American College of Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. After retiring from private practice, he had the honor of serving the public at the Family Planning Clinic for Women's Health at the Macomb County Health Department. He also volunteered on the Board of Directors of the Ted Lindsay Foundation, supporting people with autism. Outside of his work, his passion was cars; so much so that he helped start the Banshees car club. He also was a member of the Ford and Mercury Restorers Club and the Breakfast Club for many years. The only thing that superseded his love of cars was his love for his family, who were his greatest treasures. William was a well known, and well beloved face in Rochester, Michigan. He served his Lord as an active member of University Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his children Sue (Joe) Bacani, Katie Harris, Bill Stanley, and Brad (Debbi) Stanley; his grandchildren, Nicole (Cory) Mace, Jenni (Paul) Bacani-Storti, Shawn (Chad) King, Beckie Bacani, Brittany (Clayton) Skulski, Angie Bacani, Amanda Bacani, Colin Stanley, and Barrett Stanley; his great grandchildren, Adalynn Mace, Kylie Mace, Lorna Mace, and Jackson Skulski.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Collette Stanley; his father, William Stanley; his mother, Thelma Stanley; and his sister, Martha Atkins.
