She is predeceased by her loving husband and best friend: Carl Catanese Sr., her parents: Angelo and Jennie (Gallo) Yacono; siblings: Lucy (Yacono) Catanese, Connie (Yacono) DiFiore, Joseph Yacono, Salvatore Yacono, Mary (Yacono) Barbato, Louie Yacono; Great Grandchildren: Patrick Elpers, Christopher Elpers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews.
Anne is survived by her loving children: Ronald (Beverly) Catanese, Carl J. Catanese, Corinne (Webster) Fowler; cherished grandchildren: Chrissy (Wayne) Brockman, Drew (Pauli) Catanese, Polly (Grant) Elpers, Sarah (Yianni Zaromitidis) Bartz, Conner Catanese; great grandchildren: Carly, Cole & Abby Brockman, Isabel, Gemma & Marco Catanese, Parthena Zaromitidis, Lydia Elpers; loving brother: Angelo “Junior” Yacono; sisters-in-law: Rose (Tota) Catanese and Mary (Schiavone) Yacono and many nieces and nephews.
Anne was born July 11, 1921, and was one of many siblings. She attended Madison High School and continued on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the SUNY College at Brockport. During her 27 year career, she was most remembered for teaching Kindergarten at Theodore Roosevelt (# 43) School. Additionally, she was 1 of 5 NYS teachers awarded the distinction to pioneer ‘Reading Tutelage’ in Kindergarten by the NYS Education Board. Teaching children to read expanded into her many years of active devotion to her church, Gates Assembly of God, where she prepared lessons and taught Sunday School & Childrens Church.
Through the years, Anne lived a healthy life enjoying traveling, friends, and time with family.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 4-7PM at the Funeral Home of ALVAH HALLORAN & SON, 2125 Chili Ave., Gates. A Service will be held at Gates Assembly of God Church, 4195 Lyell Rd., Rochester, NY on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 11 AM. Entombment to follow at Riverside Cemetery on Lake Avenue.
