Back in the late 60s Gene, Jeff & I were fraternity brothers at Ohio State. I recall home football Saturdays when Mr & Mrs Atwood came to Columbus for some games. Afterwards I was invited to come to their hotel room where we'd all visit. Those were fun times!  The Atwoods were special people, very gregarious and simply pleasant to be around. Mr Atwood always greeted me with a hearty handshake & it was obvious he was interested in my life & what I was doing. To the entire Atwood family, I am very sorry for your loss. I know you have many fond memories of this wonderful man.  Bless you all!

Rest in peace Mr. Atwood. I didn't know you well, but I will always remember your optimism and genuine excitement for life. Your legacy will live on, of that I am sure.

I was so sorry to hear of your Dad's death, Gene, Jeff and Suzie. He will be missed. Your parents were always kind to us and I think of them fondly. Your mother's example as a nurse encouraged me to choose nursing and to even get my first job at St. Mary's where Mrs. Atwood worked. My brother, Jimmy and Patty Bromley said it all so well. We were so fortunate to have grown up on Arrowhead Drive and to have the safety to play/grow freely. The Arrowhead Gun Club was a "last man's club" if you recall (re: the lodge) and your Dad was the last man to go home. Papa Atwood had the best laugh. He always made me smile. Suzie, Gene and Jeff, you have many, many wonderful memories, and so, your Dad will always be with you.

Arrowhead Drive as I knew it has ceased to exist and will now only be a beautiful ache in my heart.   Babysitting for Gene, Jeff and Susie (myself not much older!), the countless summers at Big Moose Lake, the picnics at the parks, the adult parties that stretched into the wee hours and were relived evenings sitting out on the porch @ #73, the birthday parties and celebrations big and small, the weddings and births and sicknesses and funerals...we were all family for sure!   Our parents provided the best of innocent childhood for us.  Your Dad was my Dad's best friend throughout his life.   He had the compassion patience, kindness and generosity of a saint to stay in touch day after day, year after year, especially as my Dad's mobility diminished.   It must have been such a joy for my Dad to welcome his old buddy again and to know the Arrowhead Gun Club was at full  membership.   Jane, Gene, Jeff, Susie and family, my sympathy and prayers as you journey without this sweet man who made all of our lives better for knowing him.

Thank you for welcoming me in your family and treated me like your own daugther. Will miss you so dearly our daily routine at home, the afternoon walks around the neighborhood. Rest in peace now Dad I love you. Till  we meet again.

Arrowhead drive was a unique street to grow up on!! Mr. Atwood was one of the great fathers who made it unique!! The Arrowhead lodge in the Adirondacks, the fall picnics and winter sledding parties made our childhood a fun place throughout the year!! I remember he and my Dad making sure the games ( at the picnics ) for the adults and kids were organized, so everyone could participate!! Oh, and I forgot the "work weekends" in the Adirondacks with only Fathers and Sons!! They were priceless and memorable!! RIP Mr. Atwood, and the gun club has a full majority now!!

Sue, so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember fondly the days that your dad took us on hikes and canoe trips.  He was a wonderful man and a true gentleman. You are so lucky to have had such a great dad.

Mr. Atwood was like a second father to me.  He was always very generous with his time and knowledge with me and any other kid from the neighborhood.  Some of my best memories include visiting at Big Moose, various hunting and fishing trips and the canoe trip with Gene and Jeff. The attached picture says it all. Gene, You are already deeply missed! I am so honored that I had the opportunity to know you and care for you over these past few months! You were such a pleasure to share time with and I will miss your warm smile and gentle little hand kisses! Rip sweet man! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your great family!

Dad you were the best father anyone could ask for. Now you are with Mom who was a great mother and one of my best friends. I will miss you each and every day of my life as I have Mom but I know I am a better person because  you were in my life.  Rest in peace and remember you left many people behind who loved you completely. Love always Suzie
