Carol, age 83, passed into the Lord’s Presence on Friday, December 2, 2016, while at Elmcroft Assisted Living Chippewa.
Born June 10, 1933 in Rochester, PA a daughter of the late Elmer W. & Mary Viola Kelly Swager.
From a very young age Carol was independent, spirited and business minded even collecting debt for her father’s coal company with her little brother in tow. A forerunner, Carol was the first female elected Class President of Rochester High School and also championed their first open prom. After graduating the Class of 1951 she began her business career at Bell Telephone. Carol was a 60 year member of Rochester Zion United Methodist Church, past president of the United Methodist Women, past president of Rochester BPOE Ladies Auxiliary & an active member of the Republican Party. Carol lived a full life, obtaining her solo pilot license, enjoyed square dancing, card clubs and target shooting.
Preceded in death by an infant brother Elmer Eugene Swager, an infant sister June Marie Swager, Leona R. Maier, Helen V Heitger, Guy V Swager, Harry F Swager, Jack R Swager, Rev. William (Ted) Swager and second husband Vincent Rivetti.
Carol is survived by four daughters: Carol Lee Snider Lapinski of Carnegie, Cynthia Lee Snider Eritano (Pete) of Center Twp, Catherine Lee Snider Boyer (Robert) of Mansfield, OH and Candy Lee Snider Kocinski of North Huntingdon. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Laura Grimm, Timothy Grimm II (Gina); Adam & Christopher Lapinski; Nathan, Ryan & Brad Boyer. Carol is also survived by one great grandson: Dyer Grimm.
Carol’s only surviving sibling is James R Swager of Margate, FL. After the early passing of their mother, Carol (then age 11) helped raise Jim (then age 2) creating their very special bond.
Carol is also survived by her first husband Ivan H Snider of Aliquippa, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff & caregivers at Elmcroft Chippewa and Gateway Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Public Visitation will be Monday, December 5, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074 (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
Private Service & Entombment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, officiated by Reverend Linda McKenzie.
