Harry F. McFern 94 of White Township, formerly of Brighton Township, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. He was born June 9, 1923 in Connellsville, PA, son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Shroyer) McFern. Harry proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII, landing at Normandy three days before his 21st birthday. He was honored to receive the French Liberation Medal along with all who served in that action.
Harry retired from Crucible Steel, Midland after 40 years of service. He was an avid reader of National Geographic; enjoyed golfing as a member at Deer Trails; coached Little League Baseball for Brighton Township and volunteered at the former Beaver Valley Geriatric Center.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded by his first wife: Mary (Huey) McFern in 1990; grandson: Jesse McFern; son-in-law: John Daugherty; his sisters: Minnie, Mae, Irene, Edna and Anna; and his brothers: Charles and Edward.
Harry is survived by his loving wife: Doris Cooper; son: Cal (Denise) McFern, Beaver; daughter: Diane Daugherty, Venice, FL; three grandchildren: Sabrina (John) Cook, Sarasota; Shawn (Ale) McFern, Elton, MD; Heather (Jason) Glessner, Johnstown; two great grandchildren: Nevin Glessner and Leilani McFern.
Friends will be received Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Chippewa Evangelical Presbyterian Church CUP, 530 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls, PA 10501 (724-843-1594). The service to celebrate his life will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at the church with Rev. Scott Graham, officiating. Private interment will be in the Garden of Lilies, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
