

James R. Ruffner, age 91, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Villa St. Joseph in Baden. He was born on October 22, 1933, in Home, PA. James loved to sing and play guitar, with his band Bobby Dee and the Moonlight Country Band. He loved to sing his country music and hymns at Freedom Church of the Nazarene. Up until his retirement, he was a Technical Service Supervisor for Sears in both Pennsylvania and Florida. James enjoyed fishing, mowing grass and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Madelin (Spontak) Ruffner; one son; Daniel (Marguerite) Ruffner, one daughter; Laura (George) Lill, and four grandchildren; Abby (Parker), Sarah, Jacob and Aleah. Also surviving is one sister; Doris Johnson, two sisters in law; Joyce Ruffner, and Sally Gordon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Ronnie and Paul Ruffner, two brothers in law Bert Spontak and Scotty Gordon, and a sister in law Shirley Spontak.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 10, 2025 from noon until the time of funeral services, including full military honors at 2pm at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
