

Mary Margaret Smith, 70, of Monaca, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born July 3, 1946 in Cumberland, Maryland, daughter of the late Lloyd and Regina (Stienmetz) Long, Jr.
A long-time resident of Monaca, Mary was known, respected and loved her neighbors. One of her greatest enjoyments was simply sitting out on the front porch or lawn talking and visiting with friends. She also liked to play bingo with friends at the Monaca Turners and Legion. Mary was Roman Catholic by faith.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years: Charles F. “Chuck” Smith, November 16, 2009; a grandson: Dustin Welling; and special brother-in-law: Walter Smith.
Mary is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John William Moore, Monaca; James and Crystal Moore, Monaca; her daughter: Tammy Burd, Monaca; five grandchildren: Rachelle Cercone; Codey and Amber Haddad; Joshua Moore and Karly Burd; five great grandchildren: Skylar; Camren; Mila; Samantha and Sophia; her sister: Barbara Kreps of Florida and dear sister-in-law: Erma Smith, Sewickley; as well as extended family and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A brief service will conclude the visitation at 7 p.m. with Sister Mary Catherine Cudmik offering comfort and prayers. Private entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
