Paul Lewis Black, 72, of Cranberry Township, PA, and formerly of New Sewickley, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 7th, at Heritage Valley Medical Center in Beaver. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Paul leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep faith, and enduring love for his family.
Born in 1953 to the late William "Bill" Black and Mary Lou Hamilton Black, Paul was raised with a strong foundation of faith and family. He grew up attending the Beaver Falls Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and later became a dedicated member of Oak Hill Alliance Church, where his faith continued to guide his life.
Paul is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Dodds Black. Together, they built a beautiful family. He was the proud father of Doug Black of Cranberry Township, PA, and Lori Black Pauloski (and her husband, David) of New Brighton, PA. Paul's greatest joys were his grandchildren, Harley and Cooper Pauloski, and Avery and Camden Black, whom he adored.
He also leaves behind a close-knit and loving family of siblings, including his older twin sisters, Darlene Black Sevin (and her husband, Jerry) of Williamsport, PA, and Donna Black Duss (and her husband, Serge) of Alexandria, VA, as well as his own twin sister, Patty Black Horn (and her husband, Tom) of Gainesville, VA. Paul is also fondly remembered by many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended loved ones.
Professionally, Paul was a dedicated, long-time truck driver and a proud owner-operator. Known affectionately by his CB radio call sign, "Crankcase Charlie", he specialized in hauling large, long, and heavy loads across the country. Long before smartphones and GPS, Paul was known to everyone as a "human atlas"—a man who could give you precise, turn-by-turn directions to absolutely anywhere.
Beyond the open road, Paul’s heart belonged to his family and his community. He cherished time spent with those he cared about and could very often be found starting his day sharing stories, laughs, and a good meal at breakfast with his many friends.
Paul will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his incredible sense of direction in both life and travel, and the warm, friendly presence he brought to every room—and every diner—he entered.
