

Was born into Heaven on July 17, 2022
after a short battle with esophageal cancer. Priscilla lived New Brighton, Pa, with her daughter. She previously lived in Greenfield, Pgh, Natrona Heights, Lower Burrell, Parks Twp, Monroeville, PA and Port St Lucie, FL. She is a 1957 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School. Penny, as she preferred to be called, is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald M. Mahan, son police Sgt Donald R. Mahan, parents James and Marie (Covert) Plenderleith, brother James Plenderleith. She is survived by her daughter Laurie (Peter) Haskins, daughter-n-law Kelly Mahan, grandchildren; Kristina (Constance) Haskins, Bradley (Mayra) Mahan, Rebecca Haskins, Courtney (Philip) Castonguay, great grandchildren; Stephanie and Valerie Leon, Grayson Mahan, Dallas Castonguay and Colton Castonguay due Oct. 2022. Penny is also survived by her siblings Bonnie (David) Shearer, Ted (Grace) Plenderleith, Ronald Plenderleith and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In March of 1957, after graduation, Penny went to work for the gas company. She met the love of her life, Don, on a blind date in August of that year. They were wed in April of 1958, thus ending her employment at the gas company. Married women were not permitted to work at the company. Penny joined several Ladies Auxiliary through the years for whatever fire department Don was a member. Penny was also a member of the Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star. In 1967, Penny and Don moved to a farm in Parks Twp, near Vandergrift, PA. Life on the farm was quite the experience for this city girl! The first years on the farm they raised cows, pigs, and chickens. The last 16 years were dedicated to breeding and showing Arabian horses. In 1988 she and Don moved to Port St. Lucie, FL. Penny enjoyed getting together with her Red Hat friends, playing cards with other couples, going to lunch and dinner with dear friends from church and American Legion. She and Don also enjoyed traveling, making trips to Ireland and across the USA. She was a member of Treasure Coast Christian Church in Port St Lucie, where she was a Sunday school teacher and traveled with a church group to visit the Holy land. She most recently was a member of Faith Congregational Church in Port St. Lucie. Her favorite pastimes of late were, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, playing cards and coloring on her Ipad.
PA services will be held Saturday August 6 at Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 PA-68, Rochester, PA Visitation is 10-12, service at 12.
Florida service will be held at Faith Congregational Church, 2199 SW Savona Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL. Visitation is 10-11, service at 11 am.
