

Sr. Master Sargent Robert C. Bennett, Jr., age 76, of Beaver Falls, passed away in Erie, PA, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Born March 3, 1947, in New Brighton, Bob was the only child of the late Robert C. and Elsie M. (Winkler) Bennett, Sr. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1966. After graduating, Bob enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California. Bob proudly served his country until his retirement in 1997, including an active tour of duty in Vietnam and many years as a reservist at the Pittsburgh-based 911th Tactical Airforce Group (now the 911th Airlift Wing). He was a steelworker at Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls, as well as Koppel Steel in Ambridge. He also worked at US Air in Pittsburgh, which helped him to pursue his love of travel. Most recently, he was retired from Ipsco Steel in Ambridge. Bob was known for being a hard worker. He loved his family, traveling, boating, hunting, being outdoors, and caring for and collecting cars.
He is survived by two daughters; Tanya (Michael) McGregor of San Francisco, CA, Tara (Ray) Lodovico of Cranberry, PA, one son, Robert M. (Brandi) Bennett of Patterson Township, PA; six grandchildren; Alexandra and Ian McGregor, Dante and Isabella Lodovico, and Tyler (Karleigh) and Taryn Bennett; and two great grandsons; Jackson Turoczy and Hudson Bennett; an uncle; Robert Winkler, an aunt; Norma Murphy; and many cousins. He is also survived by and will be sadly missed by his longtime best friend, Randy (Sue) Thomas.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, from 10am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
