
Thelma M. Stone, 78, of New Brighton, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 1, 2015. She was born January 24, 1937 in Vanport, daughter of the late Robert and Anna Elizabeth (Barnett) Singleton. In her early years, Thelma was employed as a clerk at various retail stores. Most important to her was the love for her family.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her former husband: Wayne Stone, Jr.; a son: Dean Stone; grandson: Eric Stone; great grandson: Jacob Stone; three sisters: Carol, Cora “Cokie” and Janet; and her brother: Kenny.
Thelma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Darlene Stone, New Brighton; two daughters: Chris Stone and Amy Stone, both of New Brighton; nine grandchildren: James, Melissa, Christopher, Brad, Justin, Corey, Destiny, David and Dean Jr.; four step-grandchildren: Jonathan, Jason, Jeffrey and Danielle; numerous great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Robert Singleton, Brighton Township; Clarence “Butch” and Jan Singleton, Baden; William “Bill” and Madelaine Singleton, Colchester, CT; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Evelyn “Susie” Matthews, Midland; Dorothy and Jack Maragos, Port St. Lucie, FL; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will immediately follow the visitation with Pastor Donald MacNeil, officiating. Private interment will be in the Garden of Lilies at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
