William Hill Jr, 88, of Reston VA, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on Thursday, March 5, 2020. He was born October 22, 1931 in Monaca, PA, son of the late William Hill Sr. and Besse Hill (Weigle).
Bill studied Civil Engineering and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria IL. He had a long and adventurous career as a civil engineer traveling around the world as executive Vice President of AMAX Chemical, American Metal Climax (AMAX) Greenwich CT, then as senior Vice President of Parsons Brinckerhoff (PBCS) in Reston, VA.
Through the years Bill and his wife Jean, of 60 years, lived in Eugene, OR for 5 years; Westport, CT for 16 years and Reston, VA for 33 years.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Jean Hill (Donahey), their son Matthew Hill and his brother Edwin Hill of Beaver, PA.
He is survived by his two daughters Cynthia Hill and her husband Alan Horne, Mattituck, LI, NY and Ann Mason, South Burlington, VT. ; his sister Sandra Hill-McCowan of Palm City, FL. and his five beloved grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Bill enjoyed his career tremendously, taking great pride in his success and ability to provide for his family.
He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Long Island Sound. He was an avid hunter, spending hours with his brother and cousin’s deer hunting in PA.
In his later years, his greatest joy was his grandchildren. It was deeply important to him to make sure they were well and provided for.
