Antonio Martinez, 63, of Rockford, IL, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, September 29, 2020 in a tragic accident. Born August 12, 1957 in Tayahua, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Francisco and Josefina (Ortega) Martinez. Antonio worked at Estwing before his retirement. He attended Saint Edwards Church in Rockford. Antonio enjoyed music, dancing and playing the guitar. He loved cheering on the Club Deportivo Chivas USA. Antonio liked doing karaoke, and taking care of his cars. He was very proud of his heritage and planned on moving to Mexico after his retirement. Most of all, Antonio loved his family.
Antonio is loved and missed by his wife, Maria Esthela Ortega Patino; children, Dalia (Jose) Alarcon; Jorge Martinez, Antonio Martinez; grandchildren, Ariadne, Isabela, Joaquin Emilio, Emireth, and Giannah; siblings, Jose (Maria) Martinez, Raul (Consuelo) Martinez, Raquel Martinez, and Consuelo (Luis) Lugo; nieces and nephews, Rocio Martinez, Leslie Medrano, Emmanuel Martinez, Jose Javier Martinez, Sergio Martinez, Horacio Martinez, Yesenia Martinez, Ana Martinez, and Krisna Y. Lugo. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Teresa Martinez.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL 61080. There will be a visitation held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place in Tayahua, Zacatecas, Mexico. Memorials may be made to the family.
