Clifton Lee Sims

Clifton Lee (Bo Box) Sims was born in Bluff City, Arkansas on February 14, 1944 to Clara Mae (Purifoy) Sims and Connie Box Sr. but was raised by Donnie Sims Sr. for 17 years. At the age of 17 he moved to Rockford, Illinois.

He departed this life Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois.

He married the love of his life, his best friend Lorrine (Foreman) Sims June 29, 1963 and to that union one child was born Janet (Sims) Moss in Rockford, Illinois.

He attended McRae High School in Prescott, Arkansas. He worked many jobs but retired from Quaker Oats Inc. after over 20 years in Rockford, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Sims; father, Connie Box Sr.; and the man that raised him for 17 years, Donnie Sims Sr; as well as 7 brothers, 5 sisters, and 1 great-granddaughter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and caring wife of 60 years, Lorrine Sims of Rockford, Illinois; 3 daughters, Janet (Thomas) Moss of Prescott, Arkansas, ShaToya Holts, and Paula Foreman of Rockford, Illinois; One son, Renault (Treviese) Griffin of Joliet, Illinois; and one grandson he raised as his own, Quincy Sims of Rockford, Illinois. 7 sisters, Diana Gentry, Corene Smith of Prescott, Arkansas, Clara Brown of Chidester, Arkansas, Janice (James) Williams of Hope, Arkansas, Ruby (Robert) Williams of Rockford, Illinois, Shirley (Ersey) Edmonds of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Betty Burnell of Hot Springs, Arkansas. 6 brothers, Floyd (Shirley) Sims of Gurdon, Arkansas, Alonzo Sims of Bluff City, Arkansas, Danny Sims of Chidester, Arkansas, Jerry Allen, Darnell Sanders, and Robert Box of Rockford, Illinois. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 1 special cousin, Thomas Roy Purifoy; 1 Special niece Nicole Giovanni and 2 special friends, Albert Moore and Calvin Parham.

A visitation for Clifton will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
