Connie L. Hammond

Connie L. Hammond, 70, of Rockford, IL, passed away, Wednesday evening, May 16, 2018 after a lingering illness. Connie was born November 3, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Clyde F. and Mary L. (Heller) Kirchner. She married David Hammond on August 6, 1966 in Rockford. Connie loved volunteering, especially at Lifescape and Prairie Legal Helpers. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching NASCAR, especially cheering on Kyle Busch, and watching the Rockford IceHogs.

Connie is loved and missed by her children, Lorraine (Keith) Mesch, Kristine (John) O’Hern, Melissa Scott; step-children, Gregory (Amy) Hammond, and David Hammond, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sheila Hammond; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; brother, Ralph Kirchner; sister, Olive Bresette; sister-in-law, Barbara Kirchner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David, son, Michael Hammond, grandson, Michael Rae Hammond, brothers, Donald Kirchner, Thomas Kirchner, and son-in-law, Dennis Scott.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at West Suburban Fire Department, 3816 West State Street, Rockford, IL 61102.
