Gertrude M. Ostic, 92, Rockford, passed away quietly at her residence on January 19, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 2, 1919 in Rockford to Charles and Mary Jesberger Boyer. A lifelong resident of Rockford, she attended Lincoln Park School and was a graduate of Winnebago High School.
She married John G. Jones; the former superintendent of Willwood Burial Park; in Elvira, Iowa in January 1941. John passed away in 1984. Gertrude married Alonzo M. Ostic in Rockford in March 1990. He passed away in 1996.
Gertrude enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, crocheting and redecorating the house she lived in for 65 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband, John Jones; 2nd husband Alonzo Ostic and her brother Charles (Ray) Boyer.
She is survived by her son Thomas L. Jones (Carlene) of Rockford; her granddaughter Morgan L.Whitehead (Bob) and great- granddaughter, Kaitlyn Whitehead, all of Orting, Washington. She is also survived by 5 nieces, 4 nephews and 4 step-children.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm, January 25, 2012 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services; 7000 West State Street, Rockford Illinois. Pastor Don Lyon will be officiating.
