Hazel N. Briggs

Hazel Nell Briggs (Eckstein), 86, passed away on Friday June 2, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital, Belvedere IL. She was born on October 26th 1930 to Edward and Hazel (Parker) Eckstein. Hazel was born and raised in Chicago IL. She attended Marshall High School in Chicago IL. Hazel married Kenneth L Briggs Sr on April 2 1949, they were happily married for 40 yrs., and Hazel was a homemaker and belonged to St Edwards Catholic Church,

Rockford, IL.

Hazel was a person who lived her life for her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was overjoyed when a new baby came into the family, and she loved them all. Hazel had a special bond with youngest daughter Amy, who took care of her the last few years of her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone, she had many friends, and everyone who knew her loved her. Hazel had 2 very special friends in her life that were always there for her, when she needed help, April Smith-Briggs and Carolyn Sims.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Edward Eckstein and Hazel (Parker) Eckstein, husband Kenneth L Briggs Sr, (June 17th 1989), son Kenneth L Briggs Jr (October 11th 2005), sisters, Helen Reeves, Evelyn Ryan and brother, Edward Eckstein. Hazel is survived by 3 daughters, Kathleen George, Aileen (Bill) Weed, Amy Briggs, and 2 sons, Edward Briggs and Joseph Briggs. Hazel had 11 grandchildren, Robert (Tanya) Briggs, David (Melinda) Purkeypile, Harold (Buddy) Smith, William (Billy) Smith, Kenneth Briggs, Keith Briggs, Kevin Briggs, Joseph Briggs, Brian Briggs, Stephan Briggs and granddaughter Jennifer Briggs. Hazel also had 20 great grandchildren. Per Hazel’s wishes there will be no services.
