Hazel L. Martin

Hazel Lee Martin, 68, departed this earthly life February 4, 2025. Born August 5, 1956, to Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Emma Hood-Martin. Hazel spent her childhood in Streator, Illinois, later graduating as a proud Streator Bulldog. Hazel worked at a young age as a housekeeper until relocating to Ft. Myers, Florida, in 1980. Hazel worked as a teacher’s aide and on the island with her Aunt Lucy. She later became a homemaker enjoying cooking, cleaning, playing cards and bingo, and our yearly family vacations. Hazel later decided to relocate to Illinois when her mom became ill, and she wanted to help care for her.

Hazel leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter, Aneetra (Jerry), son, Ryan (Shanequa), Ray (Sarina), and Richard; grandkids, Vaniah, Ryan Jr., Heavenle, D’Angelo, Emiyah, Makayla, JaTerilyn, Ray Jr., Sanni, and Salah; great-grandsons, Pete and R3; her loving siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Rebecca and Sherriann.

Hazel is predeceased by her daughter, Emma; 3 sisters, 1 brother, and both parents.

The family wishes to thank the following for all the love and compassion showed during this process: unity hospice nurses, Alex, Monica, P.A. Tiara, RHA Staff Courtney and Bridgett, Swedish American Heart Unit Staff.

Services for Ms. Hazel will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102.
