Joanne Mae Hughes, 81, of Rockford, IL. died Saturday, October 1, 2016 with her daughter at her side. Born May 13, 1935, in Rockford, IL. to Axel and Gladys Linder. She married James "Jimmy" Hughes and together celebrated 53 years. Joanne enjoyed her trips to Balsam Lake, WI. Where they both loved to fish as partners, netting the big ones. Jimmy was always sure to have her bird feeders filled so Joanne could enjoy the friendship of all the birds. She loved being surrounded by her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren. We want to thank grams "Hollie Girl" for taking such wonderful care of her gram. Survived by husband, Jimmy; children, J. Daniel, Timothy (Rita), Guy, Mark Hughes and Valerie (William) Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Catherine (Loey), Bondra and Shirley Ryckman. Predeceased by parents; first husband, Guy L. Murphy; infant daughter, Victoria; son, David Hughes; siblings, Frances (Red), Helen and Betty.
Funeral Services for Joanne will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. Rockford, IL. Visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Burial following in Willwood Burial Park.
