

Born on November 20, 1939, in Michoacán, Mexico, Juan's life journey took him from his birthplace to the United States, where he built a life rooted in family and tradition. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Vazquez, with whom he shared many years in Rockford.
Juan is lovingly remembered by his children: John (Tina) Vazquez, David (Tracy) Vazquez, and Tammy (Philip) Hawks. He also leaves behind grandchildren Michael (Hillary) Vazquez, Dominic Knox, Brianna Hawks, Emily Vazquez, and Gabriel Vazquez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.
Juan found great joy in tending his garden. Whether nurturing vegetables or flowers, he cultivated the earth with care and patience. His garden was not only a source of beauty but also a way to share with others.
A talented cook, Juan expressed love through food. Known for preparing delicious Mexican dishes he welcomed everyone to his table with warmth and generosity. His kitchen was a place of comfort where no one ever left hungry.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on February 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7000 West State St., Rockford, Illinois 61102. All are welcome to stop in and offer their condolences to the family.
Juan's presence will be deeply missed. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn and continue to inspire those who live by the values he held dear.
