Margaret Swenson, 80, of Rockford, IL. was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. An immigrant of Scotland she came to the United States in 1954. She worked in Detroit, at a residence hotel where she met and married her sweetheart, Lars Swenson in 1968. They spent 48 years together enjoying their travels. In 1980 Lars presented Margaret with a long awaited honeymoon to the Cayman Islands, that trip inspired 11 more when they became good friends of the villa’s owners. Their travels also included cruises with a group of Scottish friends. Margaret made a career out of being a homemaker. She loved to garden and cook and Lars especially appreciated her shepherd’s pie. Together they enjoyed watching PBS television. Margaret was born November 16, 1936 in Glasgow, Scotland, to John and Annie (O’Reilly) Banks.
Survivors: husband; brother, Alexander Banks; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; Sister, May; brothers, John (Elisabeth) and Anthony.
