Noella Jean Young

Noella J. Young, 82, of Rockford, died at 3:35 am, Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in her home surrounded by her family. Born on December 24, 1927, in Belvidere, Illinois, she was the daughter of Hattie Blanche and Marx Drath. Noella married Dale E. Young on February 4, 1945. Attended Belvidere High School and later was Self-employed as a professional cake decorator and then worked in food service for the Rockford Public Schools. She Enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was a gifted seamstress. She dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed. Noella is survived by her children, Robert Young (Sherry), Jennifer Servering (Ken), Ellen Holmes (Ron), Lois Wallenberg (Dan), and Michele Young-Turner (Art); Grandchildren, Gina, Carissa, Melissa, Amanda, Shannon, Daniel, and Riley; and eight great-grandchildren; Sisters and Brothers, Susie Ekman, John Drath, Rida Drath, Bill Drath, Lucielle Ripley and Clara Drath; and numerous nieces and nephews. Noella is predeceased by her parents, husband, and sisters and brothers, Peggy Peterson, Helen Hoage, Herbert Drath, Sally Newby, and Frank Drath. Heart-felt gratitude is extended by the family to, Sue, Carol, Peggy and Brenda of Northern Illinois Hospice and Greif Center, for their compassionate care. Service at 2 pm on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State Street, with visitation from 1pm until time of the service. Pastor Ron Meyers will officiate.
