With heavy hearts yet grateful souls, we announce the passing of Patricia Colantonio, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on February 24, 2026, at the age of 78. Patricia, affectionately known as Pat, was born on April 28th, 1947, in Rockford, where she lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Patricia was the cherished daughter of Eugene and Marilyn Knight, both of whom predeceased her, along with her brother, William Knight. She is survived by her sister, Kay Lehman, and brother, John Knight, who will forever hold dear the memories of their shared laughter. Her legacy continues through her children, Heather Leonard, and Jeffrey Hillhouse, who were the light of her life and source of pride.
Patricia's heart was a boundless well of love, and she was particularly devoted to her grandchildren, Destiny Greschke, Jazzmyn Leonard, Brittany Harlow, and August Guetschow, as well as her great grandchildren, Addelyn Hampton and Elliana Cespedes. Her love for them was fierce and unconditional, nurturing them with a warmth that only a grandmother could provide.
Her nieces, cousins, and close friend, Shirley Rucker, along with all who knew her, will miss Patricia's infectious spirit and her ability to fill any room with laughter. Her spunk and wild spirit were matched by her stubbornness and silliness, which often resulted in funny facial expressions that could brighten anyone's day.
Patricia was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the harmonious notes of music and also cherished the simple pleasure of watching movies, finding delight in stories that transported her to different worlds.
A lover of words, she spent countless hours playing her favorite word game on her tablet, challenging herself while staying sharp.
Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff at Javon Bea Hospital for the compassionate care and comfort they provided during Patricia's final days, as she bravely faced the challenges of a stroke and pneumonia with her characteristic courage and grace.
Patricia's life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. As we say goodbye, we hold her memory close, celebrating the remarkable life she lived and the countless ways she touched our hearts.
In lieu in flowers donations may be made to the family.
