Robert K. Purdy Jr.

Robert K. Purdy, Jr, 58, of Loves Park, IL, passed away suddenly, Monday, April 20, 2020 in his home. He was born August 22, 1961 in Maui, Hawaii, the son of Eben and Mildred (Kahunanui) Purdy. Robert was employed as a tour bus driver for many years, and his clients enjoyed having conversations with him. Robert came to Rockford on Mother’s Day of 2010. He married Tammie Dean on November 27, 2010 at the Faith Center in Rockford. Robert and Tammie were members of Faith Center and Riverside Community Church. Robert was a firefighter. He enjoyed playing Hawaiian music and loved entertaining family and friends. Robert had a heart of gold, always caring for Tammie and others before himself. He liked traveling with Tammie. Robert is loved and will be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by his wife, Tammie; step-son, Jonathon Dean; step-daughter, Amber Younger; grandson, Ikaika James Purdy Dean; siblings, Shani Anne (Adam T. Yates) Kehaulani Purdy, Eben Parker (Emily K.) Purdy, Jr.; nieces, Catherine Anne Malia King, Victoria U. King, Celia Jimico K. Purdy; great-nieces, Adrianna K. Dallas, Amilliana P. King, and Arianna Leilani Dismukes; brother-in-law, Lenny (Amanda) Dean and their children, Sierra, Tyler, Lexi, Phoebe, and Zander Dean; uncle, Harry Kahunanui; cousins, Karen (Kahunanui) Watanabe, Harry Kahuanui, Jr, John Kahunanui III, Leiko (Kahunanui) Moikeha, Momi Kahunanui, Vanessa Tau-a, Gino Aquino, and Gail Aquino. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Eben and Mildred (Kahunanui) Purdy; Aunt Lucy Kahunanui, and uncles, John Kahunanui, Jr. and Steven Kahunanui.
