

Stuart Wells, 82, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025, due to complications from a stroke. He was born March 3, 1942, the son of Dorothy and Bill Wells. Stuart graduated from West High School in 1960. From there, he entered the Army Reserves for several years. Stuart was employed at Woodward Governor for over 25 years. He then worked at Motorola, the front desk at the Clock Tower Racquet Club, and a driver for Hemblock Ford in Belvidere.
Stuart loved the years spending summer weekends at Lake Mills with his family which included pancake breakfasts on the beach, and hours and hours of tubing and waterskiing. He loved riding his Gold Wing and playing his favorite sport, Tennis.
Stu was a wonderful father, an amazing husband, and loved being a grandpa. A good and kind man with a big heart and liked to tell jokes. He believed strongly in the investment of those he cared about. He gave of his greatest commodity – time. It was not unusual for Stu to make a surprise visit, never overstaying his welcome.
Stuart is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 57 years; daughter, Laura (Scott) Booth; son, Matthew Wells; granddaughter, Logan Wells; grandsons, Michael (Morgan) Booth and David Booth; great-grandchild, Huck Booth; brother-in-law, David Nippa; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kristine and Mark Carlson; 7 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brenton Wells; parents, Dorothy and Bill Wells.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
