Thomas E. Groeling

Thomas E. Groeling, 68, of Pecatonica, IL passed away with family by his side on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Madison, WI after a sudden illness. Tom was born on August 13, 1955 in Dixon, IL to Delbert and Shirley (Portner) Groeling. Tom was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would do anything to help a friend in need. Tom worked side by side with his father in the family business, A. Groeling & Son, for many years. He had many hobbies including fishing, playing drums, listening to music, cooking, hunting morel mushrooms, and spending time with family and friends.

Tom will be missed by his mother, Shirley Groeling, aunt, Linda (Carl) Mueller, uncle, Kenneth (Mary) Portner Jr, Special cousin Paula (Mario) Fortunato, sister, Theresa (Al) Adams, children, Doria (Andy) Reiter, Jamie (Matt) Evans, Richard (Amanda) Groeling, Tim Smith, Olivia (Mike) King, and Gabrielle (Cody) Groeling. Grandchildren, Paige (Kadin), Lily, Amelia, Jack, Liam, Serenity, Aria, Piper, Chloe, Prudence, Eloise, Phoebe, Thomas, and Richard. Great grandchildren, Oliver, Rosemary, and many nieces, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his father, Delbert Groeling.

Advantage Funeral and Cremation is assisting the family. Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 19 from 2pm to 5pm at the Pecatonica American Legion (403 Main Street, Pecatonica, IL 61063). The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison for their compassion and excellent care.
